So long 2007…welcome 2008.
Reflect Upon
I was caught with the wrong lens in the wrong situation when I went to shoot this day. I had planned on shooting something, somewhere, but hadn’t decided the “where” part until I came to this spot. I only had my 50mm 1.8 available to me, when I probably should have had something in the 20mm range for this situation. It turned out OK, as I was forced to fit within the limits of the 50mm lens, and at that, learn to look a bit better for worthy subjects. I was happy with the results, and will post a few more in the coming days.
Holiday Bokeh
I decided to try out a little project that was posted over on Photojojo this past weekend. It took a few tries to get the sizing correct for the cut, but it was overall pretty easy, and fun. The two photos above were done using black construction paper, just as a test, which worked out OK for a first run. I think I will work on a better set and use poster board or vinyl, something that will last a bit longer and be a bit more sturdy.
Tis’ the Season
It’s that time of year again, where everyone is in a rush, and the stress levels are high, even though it is supposed to be the season of giving and caring. I guess I never understood the stress part of it, or why people find themselves to be of more importance than the next person. To top it, I think that the whole “Black Friday” and “Doorbuster” thing really adds to the problem. I wonder if parents brag to their children about what they went through to get them there this year’s gifts.
“I had to trample 2 old ladies to get you that *insert this year’s hot toy*…you should be grateful”.
It seems that most people are trying to satisfy themselves rather than the needs of those they are actually buying gifts for.
The whole thing makes me feel a little ill to think about.
Tis’ the season indeed.
