I think (hope) I have everything working here as I’d like it to, so hopefully I can get into full swing this week with posting. I have a plan to shoot a spot over lunch on Tuesday, but it depends on the weather. I think I have exhausted my immediate surroundings and need to find some new nearby areas to shoot, either that or re-consider some places I have shot in the past and see if they have anything left to offer.
Taken last night wile visiting Providence, RI (USA) for Waterfire, an even held several times during the course of the year.
I was hoping to do something different when taking this photo, but wasn’t able to get close enough with the right angle to get the shot I wanted. I wouldn’t have taken this photo at all if the moon wasn’t in there, luckily it was. ;-)
A fisherman getting one last cast in before the summer’s end.
There are lots of factories, warehouses, and other remnants of the industrial age in this area. This is one particular building that I see daily and have actually snapped photos of a few times now. I happened to glance over and catch this cloud lingering above the stacks and thought it would make for an interesting photo, especially since these stacks haven’t been active for close to 50 years.
I happened to be near this spot over lunch a few days ago and decided to stop in for a quick shot. I’d forgotten about this little gem, as it’s tucked away in a tiny corner of the next town over, which I rarely visit. Mid-day was probably not the best time of day to work with, so I tried to do something a bit different for this photo.
I’m thinking about heading back by to shoot a sunset series there, as the lighthouse overlooks a small harbor which puts the sailboats between the lighthouse and setting sun. I had attempted to shoot there once or twice in the past, but found it difficult due to the fact that everyone parks there for the beach and sunsets in the summer. Aside from photoshopping, there is no way to avoid having cars ruin your lighthouse and seascape photos. Now that summer has gone it shouldn’t be as much of a problem, though there will be far fewer sailboats, as most go south for the winter, along with their owners.
